It's all about Adult Ballet!  With over 20 years experience of leading adult dance and, as the principal of Monmouthshire Adult Ballet (MAB) - I get to teach the most fabulous group of adult dancers every week.

I've always loved ballet and threw myself into my classes as a teenager.  Unfortunately, like many other young ballet students, I was told that I wasn't really suitable for ballet and I eventually floated away from classes.  I returned to dance several years later and, after taking my Intermediate IDTA exam, began teacher training.

Fully back in the ballet world I joined Chelsea Ballet, an amateur ballet company - dancing roles that I never dreamt possible in the greatest classical ballets - Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutracker, The Sleeping Beauty...I was in amateur ballet heaven.   After moving to Bristol I set up Ballet Bristol in 2008 - which is now a thriving amateur ballet company.  I also ran popular classes for adult dancers, Ballet Bristol Studios, and taught at the University of Bristol Dance Society.  Another house move brought me to Monmouthshire in 2015.  By then a fully qualified teacher I set up a small ballet school - which has now evolved into MAB.

As well as gaining Distinction in my teaching exams with the International Dance Teachers' Association, I am a certified Progressing Ballet Technique teacher and a Silver Swans Licensee. In 2019 I graduated with a first class degree in Dance Education from the Royal Academy of Dance.  During my degree I was able to focus my studies towards adult ballet practice, including my dissertation - Dancing in the Amateur Ballet World: An Empirical Study into Adult Amateur Dancers' Experience of Performing the Classical Ballet Repertoire.

My dance teaching practice emphasises a student centred approach where each dancer is supported in an environment in which they can reach their full potential, gain confidence in their individual expression, progress in correct technique, and enjoy dance.  I hold Enhanced DBS clearance, Insurance and first aid training.
